The One and Only Ocean Club on Paradise Island Bahamas

The One and Only Ocean Club  is one of Paradise Island’s truly opulent hotels. And its Courtyard Terrace is one of the most romantic restaurants on New Providence. The rooms have patios, ocean or garden views, and spacious bathrooms. Lots of watersports are available and the hotel beach is a long, pristine expanse of sugar-white sand. The Ocean Club also has three restaurants, including the famous Courtyard Terrace and a new venture called Dune. The décor of the guest rooms reflects the overall opulence of the resort: gilded mirrors, dark woods and plush upholstery. The atmosphere is one of quiet, secluded luxury, almost museum-like. This is an excellent choice.

Once a private estate, One&Only Ocean Club is located in a world of pristine beachs and exquisite gardens inspired by the romantic grandeur of the Palace of Versailles. Fragrant blossoms of hibiscus and bougainvillea, along with hand-laid rock ridges and stone steps, ascend the terraced garden decorated with bronze and marble statues from Europe. At its apex stand the dramatic arches of a 12th- century Augustinian cloister boasting spectacular sunset views over Nassau Harbour.

A playground for children and adults, the resort offers world-class golf, tennis, a full-service spa, children's club and, of course, plenty of crystal blue water for swimming, diving, snorkeling, sailing or just admiring. A dip in the palm-lined pool, Evian water misting and afternoon sorbet offer an exquisite form of relief from the heat.

A Bermudan-style bar, six tennis courts and the nearby Ocean Club Golf Course are open to guests. Complimentary shuttles transport guests half a mile west to the Atlantis resort, a partner property, where they can enjoy access to all facilities and charging privileges at the numerous restaurants and lounges.

Rates (always subject to change) begin at $400 per night, rising to $725 for a double during the summer season ($725 to $850 for a suite) and range from $625 to $750 for a double during the winter season (suites from $1,125 to $1,350). There also are five private villas where the rates range from $650 to $1,350 per night, depending upon the season.
