Tipping in the Bahamas

It’s standard to see a service charge of 15% added to restaurant checks and the same with room service in the large hotels. If you don’t see a gratuity on the bill, ask. Hotels add an 8%-10% service charge to their rates, so there’s no need to leave a room tip. Tour guides expect to receive $2 to $5 per person, and cab drivers usually receive 10%-15% of the fare.

For visitors arriving by air, the Bahamas are served through Nassau by most US airlines and by international airlines from Canada and Europe, and to a slightly more limited degree through Freeport.

The Out Islands are served mainly by Bahamas Air via connections in Nassau and Freeport.
